New Post: Problem adding new button group

When I try to add a new button group, I am prompted to fill in 2 pieces of information. I do that, but when I try to add a button to that group, I cannot input anything to the ID area.

Thoughts are appreciated.

According to CRM 2011 SDK:

Form Ribbons

Each entity can have multiple forms. You can define changes to the form ribbon for all forms for that entity by adding your definition at the entity level (//ImportExportXml/Entities/Entity/RibbonDiffXml).

Each entity form can have a specific ribbon definition. In the exported customizations.xml file, you must add your modified <RibbonDiffXml> (FormXml) to this location://ImportExportXml/Entities/Entity/FormXml/forms/systemform/form/RibbonDiffXml.

Ribbons are defined per entity, not per form.

So, it's your responsibility to configure ribbon elements to be displayed only for a specific form using DisplayRules

I have three main forms for Lead, I'd like to customize one form's ribbon using the tool.

I cannot see the tool support this.

Hi!

First of all, I want to thank you for such a great tool, that somehow makes it easier to edit the ribbons. Anyway, no one is perfect, wherefore I thought to add one missing feature here.

Problem: Recently I was trying to execute a JavaScript method on a press of a toolbar button. That code should then use jQuery and JsonP to call one of my WCF services. I have both libraries located in separate web resources and my method, that is again stored as a web resource should reference both.

Solution: Today I have found this discussion thread:

It tells us, that to reference another JavaScript LIbrary from a web resource, it's just enough to add it as a JavaScript node and setting the function name to "isNaN".

Sample:

Proposal: Maybe that workflow could be incorporated within the UI, by extending the context menu by another point named "Add Javascript Library Reference", that would still allow to select a JavaScript web resource, but will fill "isNaN" automatically (readonly).

What do you think?

Hi,

I still prefer the solution, where I do not have to install anything to the dev machine and I can keep it as clean as possible. And that applies for Sitemap editing as well as RibbonXML editing. So count me in as loyal user of your tools.

Hi,

I'm aware about this issue and I have the solution ready. Just need to publish it.

As you might know, there is some excellent new tools even better than mine to manage ribbons (see my latest blog article : http://mscrmtools.blogspot.com)

So I'm still considering going on or stopping this project.

Hi tanguy92,

do you have any updates on this issue? I have checked your code, and there seems to be an error in the ConnectionManager.cs. The code does not request the password from the user - if the IFD is checked and therefore - a blank password is sent in the ClientCredentials object.

I had the same error "Error: Error while retrieving solutions: ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized." using on my computer Ribbon Editor to connect to a CRM 2011 on Premise server width IFD and SSL.

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition on my computer

I'use a CRM System Administator and Deployment Administrator Account.

Can any one has an idea.

I am also getting the "Error: Error while retrieving solutions: ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized." error.

I was using a self-signed certificate so I bought a proper SSL certificate but I still get the above error.

Trying to use with an on-premise setup with IFD enabled.

My connection in RibbonEditor is set to "Use IFD".

server: name.domain.com

port:444

Questions for both of you: is Windows Identity Framework is installed on your computer?

If yes, I will need the information you specified to connect to the environment. Also tell me what is the type of server (OnPremise, IFD or Online)

I am getting connection errors as well. "Error: Error while retrieving solutions: ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized."

This is our prod environment and I would expect more security, but I've tried all of the connection types (SSL, IFD and Online) and none seem to work.
